Despite Calvin Dorn’s statement to the contrary, tour helicopters routinely fly below the Federal Aviation Administration’s minimum altitude regulation of 1,500 feet above ground level (“Helicopter industry safe, responsible,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, May 22).
Don’t believe me? Just go to www.flightradar24.com and see for yourself. And be aware that when the site reports “calibrated altitude,” you need to correct for your location’s elevation to get altitude above ground level. Calibrated altitude is the height above sea level.
