Over the years, we’ve heard about trouble with the baseball fields in Waimanalo. But we were shocked to find that City Council member Ikaika Anderson is moving forward with the destruction of Sherwood’s as the “solution” for the ballfields.
Instead of pumping millions into repairing and improving the existing fields, the city is clear-cutting the last piece of paradise. It is taking more precious land when it can’t even care for what we have.
Yes, the traffic will be worsened. Yes, the shearwater population will be decimated. But most of all, the last place for the residents of Oahu to go and enjoy nature is being destroyed. This does not just impact Waimanalo. But it is going forward with no input from all the other people of Oahu who love this place. A neighborhood meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. today at the Waimanalo Public and School Library.
You are paving paradise and putting up a parking lot. Shame on you, Ikaika Anderson.
