It’s been hard not to notice, but in case you’ve not: it’s Merrie Monarch Festival week.
The cultural competition from Hilo officially starts tonight with 13 vying for Miss Aloha Hula. Then Friday night, the halaus’ months of practice and dedication will be on full display with the kahiko (ancient) performances, culminating Saturday night with the auana (modern) dances.
Seeing the Merrie Monarch in person is special — but it’ll still be a treat to view it live on TV station K5 or online at HawaiiNewsNow.com/MerrieMonarch.
