Punaluu murder suspect charged
Honolulu police have charged 43-year-old Raymond Sheldon with a fatal shooting Friday in Punaluu.
He was charged today with second-degree murder and a firearms charge, a Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman said in an email. His bail was set at $1 million.
Police received reports of hearing gunshots in a Punaluu residential neighborhood. Officers found evidence of someone being shot, but the victim and suspect were not present, the homicide lieutenant said.
On Saturday a witness found the body of a man with traumatic injuries in a wooded area of Punaluu.
Police later discovered that the two men were arguing at Sheldon’s home when the victim was shot.
Sheldon then allegedly hid the body in the wooded area near his home.
