STARADVERTISER / MARCH 4, 1977
Minna Lohman, left, Sue Cook and Karen Vidal work the Emergency Action System 911 switchboard.
The system was put into action in 1975 to connect the public to ambulance, fire and police departments.
The initial kinks have been ironed out, and the operation is running smoothly, according to Honolulu
Police Sgt. Samuel Keanini, who is responsible for training the switchboard operators.
