Police arrest suspect in deadly shooting in Punaluu
Honolulu police arrested a 43-year old man in connection with a deadly shooting of another man in Punaluu.
Positive identification of the victim is pending.
Lt. Deena Thoemmes of the Honolulu Police Department‘s Homicide Detail said patrol officers responded to a residence in the area at about 10:55 p.m. Friday after they received a report by witnesses who heard gunshots.
When they arrived, “they located evidence indicating that a person had been shot, however, the parties involved were not present,” Thoemmes said during a news briefing held tonight at the main police department headquarters.
Police received another call from a different witness at approximately 1:30 p.m. today who reported a body found with traumatic injuries in a wooded area in Punaluu.
Upon further investigation, Thoemmes said it was determined the two men were involved in an argument at the suspect‘s home Friday night when the suspect fired multiple fatal shots at the victim.
