Celebrate keeping Hawaii clean, protected and free of pollution, from the mountaintops to the sea, at the aptly named Mauka to Makai Environmental Expo Saturday at Waikiki Aquarium.

“At the heart of the family-friendly expo is the celebration of Earth Month, which encourages communities to come together to preserve our land and oceans in an effort to keep Hawaii safe and protected for generations to come,” said Ross S. Sasamura, director and chief engineer of the city’s Department of Facility Maintenance.

Event highlights include a fish release with fish donated by the Oceanic Institute, a native plant giveaway courtesy of The Garden Club of Honolulu and “The Journey Home” puppet show performed by students from Waipahu High School’s Academy of Arts and Communications. There will also be interactive booths, crafts, hands-on learning activities, exhibits showcasing ways to preserve Hawaii’s environment, and entertainment.

Complimentary water stations will be available for guests who bring refillable water bottles.
