Another good column by Richard Borreca (“Lawmakers must try, try, and try again until they forge needed law on vacation rentals,” Star-Advertiser, On Politics, April 14). He says it all — again.
Vacation rentals do impact us all for every reason Borreca states. The biggest reason is lost taxable revenue for the state. Why these lawmakers and governor don’t immediately resolve their differences, devise a workable, agreeable law that gives us taxpayers some relief from their seemingly inexhaustible tax increases, is beyond me. If they resolve this then everyone is happy. The governor and legislators get to fund programs. They get a pat on the back — a job well done — and then are likely re-elected.
We taxpayers are relieved with the government staying away from our wallets for awhile. To be sitting on a huge cash cow for all of these years, with millions of dollars available, is unacceptable.
Pass a law now. If they don’t like it, then change it next session and pass another law to get it right. But stay away from my pockets.
