Kamehameha Highway in Hauula to be contra-flowed for guardrail work
One lane of a section of Kamehameha Highway will remain closed in Hauula, state officials said, as crews install guardrails today through Thursday.
The northbound lane between Hulahula and Pokiwai places will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Thursday for guardrail installation following shoreline protection work. Traffic will be contra-flowed.
The state recently completed repairs to the section of the highway near the Kim Taylor Reece Gallery due to coastal erosion damage.
As part of repairs, crews reset concrete blocks that served as part of the erosion control system, filled the area behind them with a concrete mix, repaved the highway and installed boulders to create a slope matching the shoreline.
Concrete barriers are expected to remain in place until the guardrail installation is completed.
If additional lane closures are necessary, they will be posted on the weekly Oahu lane closures list.
