A man accused of fatally shooting another man outside a Waikiki nightclub and injuring two others in 2017 is expected to go to trial for a third time after a jury deadlocked Friday, unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
Circuit Judge Todd Eddins said that within two weeks he would set a new trial date for Jordan Smith, who is charged with murder, attempted murder, using a firearm to commit the crimes and carrying a firearm without a permit.
Jurors deliberated for more than a day before informing the court they were unable to reach a verdict.

A spokesman for the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney said prosecutors will be prepared to retry the case.
Smith’s first trial last year ended with jurors finding him not guilty of attempted first-degree murder but deadlocked on the other charges.
