UH-Manoa student who died on campus identified as Hawaii island resident

Issac-Hiram Lavea of Hawi died after collapsing while working out at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Warrior Recreation Center.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified an 18-year-old student who died after collapsing while working out at the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Warrior Recreation Center as Issac-Hiram Lavea of Hawi, Hawaii island.

The cause of death is still pending.

Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the recreation center at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday after they received a report of a student, later identified as Lavea, who stopped breathing.

He was taken in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
