Don’t the state Department of Transportation bureaucrats who schedule road work on major highways care at all about the commute of Hawaii’s citizens? Wouldn’t any reasonable individual suspend roadwork and tree trimming on the Likelike Highway during the high-traffic days when the Pali is closed for repairs?
It appears that they have a predetermined schedule for maintenance and cannot deviate, no matter the circumstances. Please, please, please send the crews to another work site. I’m sure any adept administrator can easily find other areas that are not prime highways and cause backups of an hour or more.
Where is our legislative oversight? We see what we get when we spend $90,000 per year on administration of one mile of highway in Hawaii compared to $4,000 per year in Kentucky. Bureaucratic ineptitude.
