Letter: Likelike Highway merge lane too dangerous to use

OK, it’s been a reasonable amount of time to try the new lane merging westbound on the Likelike Highway on-ramp. It’s now much shorter, making it more dangerous for vehicles to get on. I have never met anyone who uses that ramp who has anything nice to say about it. Cars coming on think it’s a quick merge. No way. Not when huge commercial vehicles and tour buses come barreling through with no intention of letting you come in.

People toot horns thinking you shouldn’t stop to wait, but at times you have no choice but to stop. Oftentimes I cringe knowing I have to go there, so I go the long way on School and Middle streets just to get on the freeway.

Whoever decided to have this plan changed obviously doesn’t have to use this ramp daily. Any chance it can go back the way it was?
