For themselves, $74,000, and only $26,000 for everybody else: Members of Hawaii’s Legislature are set to give themselves $12,000 raises — up to $74,000 per year — for part-time work. House Democrats also have settled on just a $12.50 per hour minimum wage by 2024, or $26,000 for full-time work. The hypocrisy is deafening while they purport to be the party of laborers.

If they think they’re worth so much more, then how can they believe the rest of us are worth so little?

If they settle on a $12.50 per minimum wage by 2024 for full-time work, while the rest of the Democratic states are moving to $15 per hour, Hawaii’s Democrats will remain the laughingstock of the labor movement.
