In response to Georgette Deemer’s letter regarding Ala Moana Regional Park (“All comments heard on Ala Moana park,” Star-Advertiser, March 26), and the inclusion of a 1-acre children’s playground in the proposed actions for the park: Deemer missed the intent of comments made by the Save Ala Moana Beach Park Hui and many others.
No one is against a playground for children, including for children with disabilities. It is the placement of the proposed “world-class children’s playground” in the midst of the existing park that is troubling, and even baffling.
Yes, Ala Moana Regional Park is the “People’s Park.” It’s a park, with wide-open green spaces, for all to enjoy. No need for zip lines and splash pads — the beach is right there.
