The 1971 Aloha Week kings and queens of Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai and Hawaii were presented, and former Aloha Week kings and queens were saluted in a setting that harked back to the monarchy.

The new Aloha Stadium was moved into the baseball confi guration with home plate at the top of the aerial photo taken by Warren Roll, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin’s chief photographer. The 50,000-seat stadium was expected to open in time for the University of Hawaii’s Sept. 13 football opener.

A small troop of identical mannequins waited to be transformed into curly individuality while their human counterparts drew the undivided attention of hairstylists during a demonstration at the Halekulani Hotel. Hairstylists from all over the world were attending the fi ve-day Zotos International Conference, designed to introduce all facets of new hair design.
