Senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg put down 13 kills and junior middle Patrick Gasman added 10 kills without an error to lead No. 2 Hawaii to a 25-20, 25-17, 25-14 sweep of No. 8 Brigham Young tonight in Provo, Utah.

The victory gave the Rainbow Warriors (20-0) the championship of the BYU Invite as well as extended their NCAA-record sets-won streak to 60. It also broke the Hawaii program record for consecutive matches won; the 2006 team won 19 in a row.

It was the first win in Smith Fieldhouse over the Cougars (12-8) since 2003, snapping a 15-match losing streak. It was just the fourth win for Hawaii over BYU in Provo against 25 losses.

The Cougars stayed close most of the night courtesy of 14 service errors from Hawaii. The Warriors balanced that out with 10 aces, including the walk-off by senior setter Joe Worsley.

Junior opposite Rado Parapunov added 10 kills. It was a season high in kills for Gasman, who hit .909; the country’s block leader was in on five of the team’s 8.5.

Sophomore libero Gage Worsley had 10 of Hawaii’s 28 digs.

BYU was led by sophomore hitter Gabi Garcia Fernandez’s 12 kills.
