If $1 million is going to be spent on the former Koko Crater tramway (“Popular Koko Crater stairs might get a $1M boost,” Star-Advertiser, March 17), why not allow a public-private partnership to install a tram that would make a scheduled run up and down the tracks a couple of times a day at the cost of an expensive ticket, to permit funds for continued maintenance?
Then certain tourists and even senior citizens could experience the ride and the view from the top, even if they cannot manage the physical hike. Meanwhile, most of the day, the hikers could still utilize the stairs.
