Hawaii Hilo women’s volleyball coach Gene Krieger resigned his post to move to the mainland and assist with his wife’s health problems, the school announced on Tuesday.
The family plans to relocate to the San Diego area.
In Krieger’s two years as head coach, the Vulcans went a combined 28-25, including a 21-7 record in 2018. It was UH Hilo’s first 20-plus-win season since 2009.
Although he will stay at his post until April 1, a national search for his replacement will begin immediately.
