A 65-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man whose bodies were found Thursday evening outside a Waikiki condo building were a couple who had been renovating an apartment, said a woman who manages several units at The Tradewinds.
The property manager said the woman had been buying the apartment from the owner, and she and her boyfriend — not a squatter, as a source close to the investigation initially told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser — had been allowed into the unit at 1720 Ala Moana Blvd.
Police said witnesses reported hearing the two arguing outside the eighth-floor apartment, and the woman was found dead on the ground.
The property manager, who asked not to be named, said that they were arguing on the walkway where a low wall exists, and she suggests that the fall could have been accidental.
The man locked himself inside the apartment, she said. Witnesses then saw him jump, said police, who said the incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. No further information was provided.
The two were dead when Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived. The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office did not release any information on the identity of the pair, nor did they provide the cause and manner of death.
