John Tamashiro said that Democrats should be held accountable to keep their promises (“Dems should be held to account for promises,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, March 8).
I agree, but would qualify by mentioning that the Democrats have only had a short time to even reveal their ambitious agenda, much less flesh out the substance and the details, while Trump and his sycophants have had more than two years to build the wall, eliminate non-white immigration, rebuild the nation’s sorry infrastructure, replace Obamacare, and enact a tax reduction that actually benefits the lower-income 90 percent of Americans.
And wait, how about those tariffs that would be good and easy to win, thus bringing the U.S. to a wonderful new level of wealth? When do we take the Republicans to account?
Do the Democrats’ proposals sound socialistic? Guess what? Medicare and Medicaid are socialism. So are food stamps and Aid to Families with Dependent Children and WIC. And let’s not even throw in Social Security, on which so many rely.
Which party is really hurting the American people?
