Hawaii Pacific swept a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 over Holy Names on Tuesday at Howard A. Okita Field in Kaneohe.
Single runs in the first and second innings provided all the scoring in Game 1, with Noel Saunders and Mary Dungey each driving in a run. In the circle, Jordan Curry earned her ninth win, scattering two hits in the shutout.
Emilee Leonard drove in the only run of Game 2 in the second inning and pitched a no-hitter as the Sharks (14-8 overall, 8-0 PacWest) earned the sweep over the Hawks (2-7, 1-3).
>> Hawaii Hilo earned a doubleheader sweep over Notre Dame de Namur by scores of 5-2 and 1-0 on Tuesday in Hilo. After a 30-minute delay due to wet field conditions, Game 1 saw the Vulcans score three runs in the fourth inning that broke a 1-all tie and Skyler Thomas broke it open with a solo home run in the fifth.
Isabelle Mejia’s RBI groundout in the third inning provided Hilo’s lone score in the second game, which ended due to darkness going into the bottom of the sixth.
UH Hilo improved to 7-3 overall, 2-0 in the PacWest. Notre Dame de Namur fell to 0-17 and 0-14.
Stockslager earns PacWest honors
Chaminade’s Madelyn Stockslager was named the PacWest Conference softball pitcher of the week on Monday.
The sophomore went 2-0 last week with a save to help the Silverswords earn a four-game sweep over Notre Dame de Namur. She allowed two runs over 17 innings while striking out 18.

>>HPU’s Shane Adams was awarded the PacWest baseball pitcher of the week for the second time this season. The freshman from Mid-Pacific pitched a two-hitter against Biola for his third win of the season.
