I think the U.S. is overusing sanctions.
Vice President Mike Pence just warned of even more sanctions on Venezuela, which is already starving. We imprisoned the chief financial officer of Huawei for violating U.S. sanctions on Iran (with a backlash that sent Apple stocks plunging). Zero flexibility on North Korea sanctions means there can be no deal.
Sanctions are fundamentally unjust and cruel because one country can cripple the economy of another country with the stroke of a pen.
