The Chaminade men’s basketball team jumped two spots to No. 5 in the latest West Region rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA.
Saint Martin’s remains the top-ranked team in the West followed by Point Loma, Seattle Pacific, Cal Poly Pomona and the Silverswords (20-6, 14-6 PacWest).
The final rankings will be released next Wednesday.
HPU remains 10th in West rankings
The Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team remained ranked 10th in the latest West Region rankings released Wednesday by the NCAA.
The West rankings remained unchanged from last week. UC San Diego is first, followed by Northwest Nazarene, Alaska Anchorage, Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly Pomona, Simon Fraser, Humboldt State, Dominican, Cal State San Marcos and HPU (19-8, 17-4 PacWest).
Sharks blast Notre Dame de Namur
The Hawaii Pacific softball team posted two mercy-rule victories over Notre Dame de Namur on Wednesday at Sand Island Park, 20-3 and 14-0.
In the first game, the Sharks (10-8, 4-0 PacWest) took control in the first with five runs, then exploded for nine in the third. Sierra Dias led HPU, going 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs. In the second game, HPU again jumped on the Argonauts (0-11, 0-6) immediately, scoring four runs in the first inning before adding two in the second and third innings and six in the fourth. Emily Leonard drove in three runs for the Sharks.
