Calling all animal heroes! If you’re a middle or high school student who loves animals and has a creative flair, consider entering Hawaiian Humane Society’s annual Mission PAWsible Contest for hero-worthy prizes, including a Samsung Galaxy Tablet or a set of AirPods.
The mission of the society is to promote the bond between humans and animals and the humane treatment of all animals. Contestants are asked to show or tell what this mission means to them.
“Mission PAWsible is a great way for students to ‘think outside the box’ to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and to creatively promote the humane treatment of animals and the human-animal bond,” said Mandi DeSouza, the society’s humane education manager.
Entries can be submitted as traditional art (drawing or painting), digital art (photography series, video, graphic design or animation) or creative writing (poetry or short story). A total of six grand prize winners — one winner from each category in grades 6-8 and 9-12 — will be awarded.
“It’s incredibly inspiring to view the artwork and read the short stories and poems of young animal advocates in our communities,” DeSouza said. “We are always blown away by the creativity and passion that students display through their entries.”
