No one doubts that capitalism has created enormous wealth in this country. However, have all the workers who contributed to this growth in wealth benefited equally?
Since bogus claims of “fake news” abound, I ask you to use your most trusted source of information and look at these numbers. Multiple sources I have consulted indicate that the CEO-worker compensation ratio has changed from approximately 20-1 in 1965 to 300-1 in 2017.
No one disputes that CEOs and other top managers should be paid more than workers, but 300 times more? How about reducing the compensation ratio to a mere 150-1 and paying the workers in the radical form of living wages?
Workers with more money in their pockets equal more spending and a building of our economy in which everybody wins.
Please no shouting, “communism!” or “socialism!” Calmly say, without resorting to inflammatories, “That sounds like a win-win solution.”
