I’m so glad that people are opening their eyes to the benefits of cannabis and re-thinking the long prohibition (“Bill to legalize cannabis in Hawaii passes state Senate committee,” Star- Advertiser, Feb. 7). We have been fed so many ridiculous lies over the years.
Cannabis is not the gateway drug as we have been told — alcohol is. We all took a drink first, and probably raided our parents’ supply. We felt the numbness in our lips and the overall euphoria and we were hooked. Then we tried cannabis. I have never read about a cannabis overdose, or DUI, or an out-of-control pot smoker on an airplane.
Let’s identify the true drug here, and open our eyes to the benefits of a less harmful option.
