Two of the program’s newest alumni and one who is the latest to announce a U.S. Congressional run headline the roster for Friday’s annual Hawaii men’s volleyball alumni match at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Larry “Tui” Tuileta and Mamane Namahoe, whose final season was 2018, and current Hawaii state senator and congressional candidate Kai Kahele are among the former Rainbow Warriors who will participate in the event that begins with a skills challenge at 6 p.m. The alumni-varsity match is scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by an autograph session.
Among the other alumni who have committed are Tom Pestolesi, Brian Beckwith, Nemanja Komar, Eric Kalima, Joby Ramos and Kolby Kanetake. Admission is free.
No. 2 Hawaii (3-0) next hosts No. 8 Stanford (5-1) on Feb. 1 and 3.
4 from Hawaii schools on PacWest team
Hawaii Hilo starting pitcher Dylan Spain, relief pitcher John Kea and utility player RJ Romo and Hawaii Pacific first baseman Christian Kapeliela were named to the preseason PacWest baseball team, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Vulcans and Sharks were picked to finish tied for seventh in the nine-team league.
Azusa Pacific was picked to repeat as conference champion.
Beschen, Asing eliminated in Australia
Hawaii’s Noah Beschen and Keanu Asing were eliminated in the second round of the Carve Pro surfing event today in Maroubra Bech, Australia.
Beschen finished third in his four-man heat with an 8.25 and Asing also finished third with an 11.90 in the men’s qualifying series 1,000 event.
