After watching U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono exercising her apparently newly adopted assertive and confrontational style during the confirmation hearing of attorney general nominee William Barr, and following her performance in the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, I’ve just got to ask: Will someone give her a clue?
Please, somebody — anybody — pass on to her that she most definitely is not coming across as a crusader of rights for the oppressed, or even as a defender of our democratic traditions and ideals.
Rather, she’s more like a Hawaiian version of U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, but without the style or charisma.
