A giant illuminated light peg mural and an oversized kaleidoscope are among backdrops for epic photo ops at the aptly named Epic Aloha, a 6,000-square-foot experience with 12 themed rooms designed by visual artists to encourage exploration, creativity and sharing aloha among guests.
The space is open to kamaaina and visitors alike daily at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort’s Kalia Tower.
“The bright colors, interactive props and three-dimensional installations capture the imaginations of kids,” said Epic Aloha co-founder and CEO Matthew Baysinger. “At the same time, Epic Aloha appeals to teens and adults with opportunities to take a selfie or family photo with a giant (11-foot-tall) pineapple or unique background to share on social media.”
The self-guided experience also includes an infinity mirror room, a room with a larger-than-life clam shell and a room created in partnership with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii to help share an important message about sustainability.
“We used plastic trash the nonprofit recovered from Hawaii’s own shorelines to make a 20-foot-wide, 10-foot-tall ocean wave mural,” he said.
Epic Aloha will donate $1 of every ticket to the organization.
“We offer our guests the opportunity to take a break from the ordinary and step into a colorful wonderland,” Baysinger said. “We believe that shared experiences help people grow together, and we love seeing families smiling and spending quality time together.”
