Although closing more parks at night is like pasting a Band-aid on the cancer of homelessness, I applaud it and other similar steps to prevent the homeless from invading our streets, sidewalks, libraries, hospitals and other public buildings (“More parks to be secured at night to keep out homeless,” Star-Advertiser, Jan. 3). I thank the government for protecting my comfort and safety.
I assume this newest step means that the government is now able and willing to legislatively address mental health issues and physically provide and ensure more adequate and appropriate homes and facilities for people who — for varying reasons, including mental illness — have no place else to go.
It might be helpful if the government and the media let everyone know where those more appropriate and adequate homes and facilities are.
