Trini Kaopuiki, co-host of KHON2’s “Living 808” lifestyle show, will be leaving the television station to head a local nonprofit organization.

Kaopuiki announced on her Facebook page Sunday that she has accepted a position as president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish Hawaii, effective Jan. 30.

“I am truly honored and thrilled to join such a remarkable organization and am eager to start working with its dedicated staff and volunteers to grant life-changing wishes for both local and visiting keiki who are critically ill,” Kaopuiki said.

“While I will miss my KHON2 family and all of our loyal viewers, I am so excited to begin this new journey and feel incredibly blessed to be a part of something so meaningful,” she added.

Kaopuiki’s last day at KHON2 is Jan. 18.

She started as a weather anchor at the station in 2000. She became co-host of “Living 808” with Taizo Braden in 2015 and later with John Veneri in 2017.

Kaopuiki will succeed former president and chief executive officer Siana Hunt who left the organization in August after seven years with the organization.
