It’s just so incredibly amazing that tens of thousands of people across Oahu are able to find out where and from whom to buy illegal fireworks, but the Honolulu Police Department, with all its incredible investigative techniques, aren’t able to do exactly the same thing and then arrest the people who are illegally selling them and, through them, arrest the people who are illegally importing them into the state.

Significant arrests and sentences will put a scare into those importers and sellers and have a major beneficial impact on the situation.

The police keep saying that they can’t do anything until a citizen makes a complaint about a specific incident and is willing to testify against the person.

That’s just crazy. It is perfectly obvious that crimes are being committed, by the importers and by the sellers. It’s the police department’s duty to investigate and prosecute. No citizen complaint necessary.
