Angela Lee’s strawweight title fight against Xiong Jing Nan has been re-booked for March 31 in Tokyo, ONE Championship announced Thursday.
Lee, the reigning atomweight world champion, is moving up in weight to attempt to become the first female to hold world titles in different divisions at the same time in a major MMA organization.
The fight was originally scheduled for Nov. 9 in Singapore, but Lee was forced to withdraw from the bout with a back injury.
The Mililani alumna is 9-0 in her professional career and has successfully defended her 115-pound title three times.
Jing Nan (13-1), the 125-pound champion, is 4-0 in ONE with three knockout victories.
The March event will be the first by ONE Championship in Japan and will include the ONE debuts of former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez.
Two other title fights also will be on the card with middleweight champion Aung La Nsang and lightweight titleholder Eduard Folayang defending their belts.
Chaminade’s Dressler honored by PacWest
Chaminade guard Grant Dressler was named the PacWest men’s basketball player of the week, the conference announced Thursday.
Dressler, a senior from Las Vegas, earned MVP honors after leading the No. 20 Silverswords (10-0) to a 3-0 record at the Hoops in Hawaii D2 Power Invitational. He averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the tournament.
Dressler also won the weekly honor Dec. 3.
