Above the fold on the first page of the Sports section was a disturbing photo of UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway as he “connected with a solid left to Brian Ortega’s head” (“Holloway hammers Ortega to keep title,” Star-Advertiser, Dec. 9).
May I ask that in the future you kindly forego the visuals in your boxing coverage? There is no need to subject all of your readers to the violence of the sport with a photo like this. There are plenty of other ways for those who are so interested to see such images.

A kinder, gentler time
In the spirit of this holiday season, and after what some consider a particularly divisive election year, we invite you, dear readers, to write in about kindness — something so special, touching or positive that it should be shared with our community.
Send a 150-word letter, or a commentary at 500-600 words, to letters@staradvertiser.com by Dec. 19 evening. A collection of these will run on Dec. 23, just before Christmas.
