Machado unanimously re-elected OHA chairperson
Colette Machado of Molokai has been unanimously re-elected to lead the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees.
“That all nine trustees voted together for our entire board leadership is a powerful statement to our community that OHA is moving forward in the spirit of lokahi (unity),” Machado said in a news release.
Machado has served as OHA chairperson since February 2017, following a period of turmoil that marked the leadership tenure of Rowena Akana, who was not re-elected in November.
She was first elected to the OHA Board in 1996 and previously served as OHA chairperson from December 2010 to November 2014.
On Monday State Supreme Court Associate Justice Sabrina McKenna administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected trustees. An investiture ceremony was held Tuesday for the newly-sworn in trustees tomorrow at Washington Place.
Newly elected at-large Trustee Brendon Kaleiʻaina Lee was elected vice chairman.
