Hawaiian Electric has proposed that wind energy be Hawaii’s source of clean energy for the future, which requires building monster wind turbines, as can be seen on the northern side of Oahu.
How wrong can they be? With all the sun we have, photovoltaics is without question the mode to pursue. Panels of PV can be installed at ground level. The operating and maintenance cost is negligible when compared to wind-energy facilities.
My home has had a PV system for more than 10 years and I sell my excess power to Hawaiian Electric. I have absolutely no maintenance and operating costs, plus it can’t be seen from the ground level.
