Aloha. Born and raised in Hawaii and now a senior, I observe it’s increasingly more hazardous to motor, walk, moped, bike and run with aloha and with full attention on or across Honolulu roads and highways.
There are increasingly more aggressive, assertive, distracted and discourteous humans and more modes of traffic, often crossing paths and in conflict with each other.
I read about other large cities experiencing similar problems and I observe such on my travels to other urban centers. (Acknowledged is the alarming distraction cultivated by use of smartphones and texting while motoring, walking, biking or running.)
In Honolulu, I’m puzzled by the frequency of potholes and the time it takes to repair them.
As I want to spot pothole(s) in advance while motoring, my attention is not (and should be) 100 percent on pedestrians, bicyclists, runners, signage, electronic signals, other motorists, etc.
Is this not a compelling reason to eliminate and prevent potholes sooner? Catch-22?
