The director of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism is resigning to take a job in the private sector.
Luis Salaveria is taking a government affairs job at the local law firm Ashford & Wriston on Tuesday, the company announced.
The law firm said Salaveria is joining its SanHi Government Strategies affiliate, which helps clients work with state and county government entities and officials.
Salaveria has been DBEDT’s director since 2014 when Gov. David Ige took office. Prior to that he had been deputy finance director for the state from 2011 to 2014 after leaving Kaiser Permanente Hawaii where he had worked for a decade and was finance manager.
Ige has yet to name a replacement for Salaveria.
