The homeless hygiene center is a great healthy idea, but unfortunately it is immobile (“City unveils hygiene center for Oahu’s homeless,” Star-Advertiser, Nov. 20).
Homeless people across the state need to be able to shower. The city should consider building outdoor showers at various parks frequented by the homeless.
There are showers at beach parks and other park restrooms have water and sewer service.
Homeless people want to stay clean, as evidenced by their attempts to wash from the restroom sink.
This will help to keep restrooms at parks cleaner, drier and available to park users.
