The daily rate for senior golfers on city golf courses should be increased from $8.50 to $10 for nine holes and from $17 to $20 for 18 holes. Increase the monthly rate from $90 to $100.
Currently, seniors are allowed to play only on weekdays at the senior rates. On weekends and holidays, seniors are required to pay regular rates. Under the proposed change, seniors would be allowed to play at the senior rates during the full month with no restrictions on weekends and holidays.
This proposal is a win-win for the city and the senior golfers. Seniors will take their family members and non-senior friends to play on weekends and holidays, increasing revenues. The health of seniors will improve with the increase in physical activity from playing more golf.
The city would save the cost of printing the monthly card and the labor to issue the card.
