Firefighters investigate Kaneohe building fire
Police have initiated an investigation involving a building fire that occurred Monday in Kaneohe.
Police said it has not been determined at this time whether the blaze at the Puu Alii Community Association at 46-058 Aliianela Place was intentionally set. Police said the exact cause is still undetermined.
Detectives of the Honolulu Police Department’s Major Crimes Detail are expected to conduct an investigation at the site this morning.
Eight units with 30 firefighters responded to the blaze at approximately 5:45 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they observed smoke and flames emanating from the structure’s roof. Firefighters brought the blaze under control at about 6:55 p.m. and extinguished it at 7:20 p.m.
Police said a witness reported several juveniles were observed in the area before the fire was discovered.
No injuries were reported and there are no arrests at this time.
