The recent column by Ruth Marcus on the synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh (“Climate of hatred caused 11 murders at synagogue,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 31), begins well with some well-written history of the Jewish culture, religion and beliefs — but then (and I was waiting for it) descends in her usual vitriol and hatred against Donald Trump.
A full third of the article lambastes the president and somehow assigns the blame for this tragedy to the Trump administration, rather than to the sick perpetrator of this crime.
I understand it is her job to write a piece designed specifically to stir the flames of discontent and social and political discord against the Republican agenda and Trump, but perhaps she should look in the mirror.
Climate of hatred, indeed, but from where? Where I see it most is from the rhetoric from the liberal left.
Rather than contribute to the problem by perpetrating the narrative of hatred and intolerance, perhaps trying to sow some seeds of respect and civility would serve us all better.
