The little ghosts and goblins — not to mention superheroes and princesses — will be out in full force tonight, weather willing.
Forecasters were predicting an 80 percent chance of rain for Halloween, which might put a damper on things, but hopefully, conditions will be better than Tuesday. Downpours triggered flash flood warnings for Kauai and Oahu; Hanalei School was closed, while a landslide off Kalanianole Highway and a downed tree in Kailua caused traffic problems.
Let’s hope today brings drier, calmer weather. Even so, there’s been a spate of pedestrian accidents lately, so here’s a timely reminder: Treat-or-treaters, stay alert out there — and motorists, that goes double for you.
You can still vote before Election Day
What with the bad weather and such, the days available for early voting are ticking away. Tuesday was the deadline to request a mail-in ballot, so unless you already have one, it’s not an option.
But there’s still the walk-in opportunity open, through Saturday. Voters can cast a ballot at one of the official locations (for sites and hours: elections.hawaii.gov/news-release/early-voting-begins-next-week-2/).
When all else fails, the state has now enabled same-day voter registration on the official election day, Tuesday. Nice to know this state, unlike some others, makes it easy.
