Once again the U. S. military is telling us what we need to know (“Sonar impacts,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 27). Who do we listen to, the fox or the hens in the henhouse?
Is the military interested in the care of the area it is using to test its newest idea? The military has a bad record as a “good tenant.”
Who finally cleaned up the island of Kahoolawe after the bombing practice? Has the military been attentive to the problem at the Red Hill fuel storage facility?
Now some of our marine mammals could become innocent victims of the military. I was raised in the Puget Sound area of Washington state. It’s the same history. The military can be a bully behind the scenes.
In Hawaii, let’s not abuse the aina.
