The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Sunday for Oahu, Kauai and Niihau in anticipation of rainy weather. The watch is scheduled to take effect at 6 p.m. today and continue through late Tuesday.
The weather service is predicting heavy rainfall for the western part of the state starting this evening as tradewinds weakened Sunday night, allowing southerly winds to draw up deep tropical moisture.
Tradewinds could return in the second half of the week.
