We need a constitutional convention to revise our Constitution to include requirements for citizen’s initiative issues to be placed on election ballots. Presently any issues placed on the ballot must be through legislative action.
One issue I would like on a ballot is a kupuna homeowner’s property tax, like Proposition 13 adopted in California, to change property tax increases for kupuna homeowners.
Another reason is to have the ability to remove laws that are not in the best interest of the citizens. For example, right after Donald Trump was elected president, lawmakers tried to have Hawaii become a sanctuary state. If we had become a sanctuary state, we would not be able to deport illegal immigrants.
