Rainbow Wahine volleyball team upsets No. 11 Cal Poly

Hawaii celebrates after scoring a point during the second set against Cal Poly.
Senior hitter McKenna Granato put down 17 kills and Hawaii upset No. 11 Cal Poly tonight 14-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10 in a Big West volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Senior opposite Angel Gaskin added 12 kills and junior middle Natasha Burns had 11 as the Rainbow Wahine (14-6, 10-1) defeated a Top 25 team for the first time in their past 14 tries. Junior setter-hitter Norene Iosia had 23 assists and 21 digs, and was one kill shy of her fifth triple-double.

Junior hitter Torrey Van Winden had a match-high 21 kills for the Mustangs (19-2, 9-1). The loss ended Cal Poly’s win streak at 18.
Hawaii takes on UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. Saturday.
