A fisherman was rescued Thursday at Bamboo Ridge near the Halona Blowhole after a wave swept him away.
At around 1:45 p.m., Ocean Safety lifeguards responded to the scene where they found an unresponsive 56-year-old man. Lifeguards took him to Sandy Beach Park where they performed CPR with the help of fire crews.
Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over treatment with advanced life support.
The man was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.
Ocean Safety said conditions were rough with 4-foot waves.
