I received my water bill on Saturday. It was $104.91, of which only $18.10 was the water charge. The rest was for sewer fees.

Included in my bill was an insert saying that the board of directors of the Board of Water Supply had approved a five-year schedule of rate increases to pay to fix the old pipelines and infrastructure on Oahu.

In my Sunday paper was a discussion about the upcoming vote concerning the possibility of having a constitution convention (ConCon), which would cost the state $55 million (“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it: Say no to constitutional convention,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, Oct. 14).

Really: $55 million. We should use that $55 million to fix our infrastructure on the island, be it the water pipelines, the roads or even the rail, instead of adding another cost on to the residents of Oahu for something that really isn’t needed. I say vote no on the ConCon amendment.
